ZiiLABS outs the third generation of its media processors designed to be faster and more efficient. Not just that, the newly developed ZMS-08 is specifically done to provide Blu-ray quality in to low power devices. The processor would allow the handhelds to feature full Blu-ray quality 1080p video playback, with benefits from the StemCell Computing architecture combined with the ARM Cortex A8 processor running at 1GHz.
The ZMS-08 also supports simultaneous HD encode and decode, 3D and 2D image processing up to one gigapixels per second and advanced Xtreme Fidelity X-Fi Audio. With the processor the devices, including web tablets, netbooks, connected TVs, video conferencing systems and home media hubs would all manage to decode full 1080p video at 40 fps or encode at 24 fps at least the makers of the ZMS-08 believe so. Featuring four bi-directional video ports, the ZMS-08 also has a hi-def HDMI output. We could see the processor in our devices starting early next year.
