Yotaro baby simulator: Robotic package of emotions and teachings
Bharat | Dec 19 2009

Smart things creep up in this over-sizing robotic world. After the little dolls losing out in their efforts to educate new parents about childcare and parenting, we have some seasoned engineers from the University of Tsukuba, who’ve developed the Yotaro baby simulator, an interactive robot with face and features replicating a baby. Caring for the Yotaro isn’t easy; if it senses lack of care or ill treatment, it breaks down into tears.

The Yotaro is integrated with an interactive screen which doubles for its face and an emotion-control system for reaction and response. The baby bot is engineered to have facial expressions, movements and physiological traits similar to babies. These characteristics would help people associate better with the Yotaro, and thus benefit. Check out the video demonstration after the jump.
