Woodstation - wood masterpiece for time and weather display
Alpheus | Oct 10 2008

Wood and technology - quite an unlikely combination, don’t you think? Well, for designers, boundless imagination is a way of life. If looks were to determine the practical appeal of a product, the Woodstation is a sizzler. Embedded, colored lights on the wooden surface form the display of this avant-garde gadget. It shows time, weather details, barometric pressure measurements, indoor temperature and hygrometry information. The Woodstation can run both on batteries and AC power. For the display to be activated, you need to flash your hand across the surface. This is enabled by an automatic movement sensor.

What’s Innovative: The Woodstation uses wood as the platform for this amazing weather and time display device. We are intrigued by the fact that the designers have managed to create a display on the surface of the Woodstation. And the end result is pretty neat. Apparently, the gizmo also offers weather predictions.

Watch This: The Woodstation is an attractive weatherman. As a design, it sets a new trend in the usage of wood in gadgets. It goes without saying that when the Woodstation realizes a market release, it would make a huge impact.

Designer: Sébastien Wallet works with Inovaxion, a design firm. With the Woodstation, he has established quite a decent reputation.
