The news spreading on the web is that, Apple might adopt the multi-touch technology for all its products and go multi-touch in its display. Although, Apple has not made such statements, but, what seems to be a rumor today could end up being a truth, as multi- touch display is something which is achievable.
This new application for MacOS 10.5′Leopard’ will work only with the touch-sensitive display screens, a technology adopted from iPhone.
The facts which strongly supports the wide spread speculations are the new features of MacOS 10.5 that is not made public, continued delay in the launch of new Apple Cinema Displays, the forthcoming launch of the new interface called iPhone and the news of a ProTools killer, which is touch-sensitive screen dependent.
If these rumors and speculations are true to its word, then Apple must be busy upgrading its hardware, which will include the new touch screen technology to displays.
Steven Johnson, the author of ‘Everything Bad is Good For You’ and ‘Emergence’ makes an interesting observation, that the speculations points to the release of a new line of products from Apple which will be aligned to iPhone, hence, introducing the new multi touch-capable displays for all its products.
If released, this new technology will be a surprise package in the new MacOS and will also be helpful in the promotion of iPhone.
So far it is a speculation, yet, a wishful speculation.
