Weird Motherboard PC mod decodes satellite signals
Gagandeep | Jun 28 2008

This one’s is all motherboards; inside and outside. Frank Fitzmaurice built this entire PC cabinet using motherboards and added designing niceties for good measure. Used and beat up motherboards were cleaned up with a putty knife to make the shell. The cabinet designed in the form of a tower, stands at 16.25” and is used by its creator to decode satellite signals. Inside it houses an EPIA M10000 motherboard, 512MB RAM, 60GB HDD, DVD Burner and a DVB PCI satellite card. The hard drive is located in the mid tower and the PCI blower fan sucks in air from underneath and blows it out from top of the tower. CPU fan has been tweaked to prevent air flow conflicts. Among all the costlier and flashier case mods out there, this recycled eccentric design is a whiff of fresh air. Hit more for some pics, including one of the guts of this baby.
