Wearable robotic muscle suit makes you a weight lifter
Bharat | Nov 26 2009

We’ve already stepped into the world of assistive exoskeletons, where humans will lift weights they never thought they would and the differently abled will move more freely than anything ever thought feasible before. Students at Tokyo’s University of Science have developed assistive robotic suits previously but this newly revealed wearable robotic muscle suit just outplays the earlier suits.

The prototype suit made to assist a wearer’s back was exhibited at the International Robot Exhibition in Tokyo, where the developers demonstrated it to assist a wearer lift 15kgs effortlessly. In another similar demonstration the wearer was able to lift five sacks of rice with assistance, whereas without assistance from the suit the volunteer couldn’t manage to lift more than three bags. The suit when ready (maybe by next year) will be a great assistance to workers who labor with heavy weights every day.
