Nicholas Negroponte, chairman of One Laptop Per Child Project, and MIT Media Lab chief, can now see his dream come true with the United Nations Development Program backing the whole project that aims at providing laptops for just $100 in the developing world; around 1 million to students and teachers in Brazil, Thailand, Egypt and Nigeria. The best thing is that the students will be given full ownership of the cheap laptops in case donated by the government or other agencies. The laptops will run on an open-source operating system, such as Linux and will feature wireless network access and a hand-crank to provide electricity.
