Trumpet MIDI Controller transfers musical notes to computer
Jaiyant Cavale | Aug 9 2008

Thomas Craig and Bradley Factor of the Cornwell University have designed the Trumpet MIDI Controller, which seeks to allow players to control the musical input or synthesizers from the trumpet itself. The MIDI controller aims to allow trumpeters to play the instrument just like they would play a normal trumpet, but with added benefits. Factors that the guys took into consideration were lip movements, resonance, vibrations and many other sound related factors. A Yamaha Silent Brass Pickup and customized software and hardware have resulted in the Trumpet MIDI Controller. Every note is passed to the computer as a MIDI data, which allows the trumpeter to digitalize his/her music automatically. Thus, it negates the need to process analogue musical notes and convert them to MIDI files later.
