Toulouse streets in France get body heat sensitive lamps

Radical new heat sensitive technology has been devised for streetlights on pedestrian paths in the Toulouse city of France. For now there street lamps which light up only when they detect human body heat and switch off with ten seconds thereafter, have been installed along a 500 meter stretch of the Allée Camille-Soula. This reactive lighting system is an enhancement to France’s campaign against nocturnal light pollution, with an objective to cut energy consumption by around 50%. Designed to save energy, the system is successful will be rolled out across the city of around 450,000 people.
