The best way to create an environment to sell a new range of TVs is to shoot a £2,500 piece of furniture into space and then see it falling down. This is exactly what Toshiba did with their Space Chair ad campaign to promote its REGZA SV LCD TVs, the first with LED backlight and local dimming. Launched at the Black Rock desert was a helium balloon powered biodegradable balsa wood chair fitted with ultra-compact 1080i camera, which lifted to a height of 98,268 feet before falling back to Earth. This is the first ad, glimpses of which you can see in the video below, while the second such ad campaign for the Satellite T Series of 11-hour CULV laptops is set for next year.
