Toshiba has just made public there SD-L912A which is their latest offering as a HD DVD burner for notebook PCs. This Toshiba SD-L912A is capable of burning high definition DVD-R at a blazing 2x speed, HD DVD-RW at 1x speed and the HD DVD-R/RW Dual Layer at 1x.
This unbeatable Toshiba SD-L912A is competent enough to write DVD-RAM, DVD-R/RW/R Dual Layer, DVD+R/RW/R Dual Layer and CD-R/RW. It has 8MB buffer technology and it connects through an ATAPI interface.
Scott Maccabe, vice president and general manager of Toshiba Storage Device Division, opined that - “High-definition broadcasting and increasing consumer interest in high-definition televisions and camcorders are spurring demand for a high-definition experience across the entire PC and consumer electronics ecosystem.”
He also added that –“HD DVD is the best solution for transitioning to a high-definition world because it is compatible with existing DVD and CD technology. Our new rewritable drive will extend the functionality of HD DVD as a tool for creating and enjoying digital content in the mobile PC environment.”
Pretty stocky package in that small panel, I would say!
