The Wasp sculpture embodies the garbage to gold culture
Jayaprashanth | Dec 10 2009

Most of us throw away household junk, but someone going by the name S.Allen might just be waiting to lay his hands on it to convert it into a piece of art. Artist S.Allen has created this visual masterpiece of a Wasp with nothing but junk. To do this, he has used a wide array of parts ranging from industrial light bulbs, hundreds of typewriter and printer parts, car door handles, sprockets and springs. This eclectic mix of waste gets assembled with fine-gauge wire to form the silhouette of the wasp. S.Allen then gives his finishing touch by fashioning wings from reclaimed 1/8″ acrylic sheeting. Lo and behold, the Wasp is up and ready to adorn your living room to wow guests. Converting garbage to gold doesn’t come cheap though. You’ll be poorer by $4,500 for this visual masterpiece.
