The Tin Robots are marching their way into our lives again! Azimuth is launching its new timepiece collection titled Mr. Roboto, with the tin robots as the central theme. Azimuth’s trend-setting collection will feature the vintage tin robotic warrior – Lantern Robot, a rage during the 1950s. Post World War II, Japanese battery-operated tin robots had flooded global markets and had soon become a collector’s item. Azimuth’s designers have successfully recreated the iconic design, with modern functionality thrown in to produce the perfect amalgam of classic design and user-friendly functions. Mr. Roboto will make its debut at the Basel Show this year and is expected to revive the enthusiasm of millions of tin robot lovers.

The designers have focused on aesthetics as well as user-friendliness. The left ‘eye’ of the watch incorporates an hour register, while the right ‘eye’ is for GMT indication. The nose joint and mouth display the seconds and retrograde minutes respectively. Mr. Roboto incorporates a modified ETA 2836-2 automatic winding as its lifeline. The chassis of the watch is made of hardy steel, while the beveled edges exude finesse. The tonneau shaped watch is the perfect avant garde addition to Azimuth’s Mecha-1 BMF collection. The 25-jeweled water-proof (up to 50m) watch also carries Torx drive cheese head tamper resistant screws.

Mr. Roboto can be yours for a pricey 4,800.00 Swiss Francs ($4,800) and will be available from September 2008.
