Tankpitstop - The new Dutch robot to help you fill your vehicle tanks!
Mahua | Feb 5 2008

It is not mere science fiction that robots would soon help us in carrying out a lot of tasks. We already have some advanced countries using robots in professional level; here is some good news in the form of Dutch Robots that would be be present in Petrol/gas bunks to fill vehicle tanks. Nico van Staveren who has developed this robot claims that his inspiration came from robotic arms that help milk cows. Straven, who also owns a filling station, noticed that getting service in filling stations was becoming a rarity. The driver had to carry out this task, which in the process also involved them getting their hands dirty by filling vehicle tanks themselves. Called ‘Tankpitstop’, this robot would bring back the older days of receiving service in filling stations. These robotic arms would meticulously operate while filling the tanks of the vehicles.

Priced at around $111,100 or approximately 75,000 euros, these robots would soon be a regular feature in certain Dutch petrol filling stations by the end of this year. These robots would be instructed keeping in mind the various car and bike models for safe and efficient fueling.

I just wait for the day when we will have robotic attendants in restaurants serving our meals. At least it would help us get rid of lousy and intruding service staff!
