To fulfill the ever-increasing need for faster, cost-effective and efficient in-shore vessel, for both military and civilian security, UK-based defense contractor QinetiQ will demonstrate unmanned surveillance and reconnaissance craft, Qinetiq’s Sentry at DSEi, the Defence Systems and Equipment International Exhibition this week.
In a stealthy design, Qinetiq’s Sentry will carry out variety of missions like remote unmanned harbor patrol and security, battlefield reconnaissance and damage assessment along with intruder investigation with a hi-speed of 50 knots similar to jet-ski for expected six hours.
This 3.5m long raft has everything from datalink communications, day/night high-resolution cameras, loud-hailer system and a smoke marker launcher to tell it’s location.
Everything has been set to function via a remote control or autonomous and regular operations including non-line-of-sight operations of up to 16 miles.
As far as it’s own safety is concerned it has been equipped with underlying semi-autonomous control system and other safety controls for a much safer mission.
A beam of 1.25m and a height above the waterline of just 1.1m over a stealthy design, it can appear mysterious to enemy.
However, only the scheduled demonstration will conform the practicality of boasted advantages.
