Speedo Racer challenged by Japanese Yamamoto Swim suits
Mahua | May 15 2008

Get ready to witness those ever so fast swim competitions at the Olympics. The Japanese swimmers who have been upset about the fact that they were asked to oblige wearing only the products from their own country at the games and not the Britain’s Speedo LZR Racer suits, which are said to help you swim fast, can take a sigh of relief. Yamamoto Corp., a Japanese firm has come up with Biorubber Swim-SCS Fabric, what can be called a super fast synthetic fabric that is ready to compete with the LZR Racer and help the Japanese swimmers. With the games being only couple of months away, it comes as a relief to the Japanese swimmers. The technology behind the Yamamoto swim suits is that, the fabric has a synthetic rubber coat that absorbs water molecules. This absorbed water is soaked into a honeycomb surface and minimizes frictional resistance. The conventional swim suits are made to repel water.

While Japan hopes to win 5 golds at the games with these suits on, swimmers are quite uneasy about not wearing the Speedo racers. This is the reason why Japanese authorities also have some more options like Blue Seventy and Orca from New Zealand, Xterra from US, Aquaman from France, and 2XU from Australia. Let’s hope one of these suits matches the 0.5 second difference that Speedo’s racer gives. With Japan determined to provide relief to its swimmers, lets see up to what extent and how these swimmers add speed to their swimming abilities. Whatever be the result, there would be some spectacular competitions!
