Samsung introduces world's fastest graphics chip
Madan | Dec 3 2007

Samsung, on Sunday, announced world’s fastest graphics 6 Gbps 512 Mb GDDR5 chip. At data transfer speed of 6 GB/sec, the chip is four times more faster than that of memories in state-of-the-art game consoles today. Further, it can transmit moving images and associated data at 24 GB/sec with included 32 input and output channels. It operates at 1.5 volts with an approximate 20 percent improvement in power consumption as compared to the present chips - the GDDR3.

GDDR5 chip hopes for mass production during first half of next year to make it available for personal computers, graphics chips for game consoles, mobile chips for handsets, and high-definition video devices.
