Robotic snakes slither their way!
Siddhesh | Jun 27 2008

The Sintef Group, a Norwegian research company have recently announced that they’ve been working on design of robotic serpents - robots that will much resemble the actual snakes in their movements! These robots will slither down the rather complex networks of industrial piping systems that are generally inaccessible to humans in order to clear the residue or to repair the broken patches. These snakes are made up of aluminium and are 1.5 meters long that makes them lightweight and flexible to slither up even high altitudes. They can also efficiently submerge themselves under the fluid to work on the inner side of the hollow pipes. Certainly, this is going to be a remarkable product and will find numerous applications in boiler-based industries after being launched!
