The plethora of radio stations available over the internet can make anyone an aficionado all right. But the hassles involved are tremendous. Flicking through thousands of stations can be troublesome, especially when, like me, you wind up listening to oldies time and again.

This is the presumption behind a nifty new device tagged Radiocube. The name kinds of gives it away, but to make things clearer, the freaky device is actually a net radio receiver.

The makers - Cambridge Consultants - have designed this gadget believing that we tend to listen to at most four stations at a time (fair enough, I would say). So the four sides of this cube actually represent four pre-programmed radio stations. The other two sides are reserved for a speaker and an ‘off position.’

What takes the cake away though is the complete absence of buttons. No button for switching the thing on; no button for volume; and certainly no button for changing the channel. You juggle the device this way and that to get it to do the desired action. Quite a neat concept! The inbuilt WiFi connection does offer you up to 10,000 different channels. All you have to do is pick four that you really like.

The device will debut in January at CES. Till then everything else except the tease pic is a big hush-hush. Don’t worry guys we’ll keep you posted.
