Racing in video games geared for ‘Real Time Race’-ing
Bharat | Nov 2 2009

Race fanatics of the virtual world are in for a real-time experience of the real racing world with Real Time Race working to realize a televised sporting event for the same. In its project, Real Time Race is developing a system which lets the players manipulate the video recordings of live race coverage, and then find themselves placed side-by-side with the drivers in real race scenarios, fighting it against the likes of Alonso and Jenson Button for the title of supremacy.

To get this working, Real Time Race will have five cameras mounted onto a car which will do a lap to film a 360-degree picture of each part of the track. This data will be streamed to the player’s computer via a television service or the internet, thus creating a racing environment right inside the house. So are you ready to race amid all the cheers, commentary, real weather changes etc, if yes, then you can download a demo of what’s coming here. The system will be made available sometime next year.
