Qinetiq develops Lacoste, a monitoring system for the defense
Jaiyant Cavale | Aug 12 2008

A monitoring system has been developed by defense firm Qinetiq that may help soldiers track thousands of targets. The great thing about this technology is that it does not use lenses but uses a sensor array, a special ‘mask’ and image software to help you picture the scene. Digital single processing has been used to decode the pattern required to pull out an image. This has been imbibed by the Qinetiq and has called it the Lacoste - Large Area Coverage Optical Search While Track and Engage. This may help the army keep track of thousands of vehicles and bring an image system that would help the soldier monitor from the air, a part of the city or battlefield. This may be of special help to peacekeeping forces to track vehicles, which were part of a violent incident.
