Organic LEDs: Solar Powered Energy in the pipeline
Naresh Chauhan | Sep 17 2006

Due to the increasing demand of energy and environmental friendly products, we’re trying hard to capture the freely available solar energy.

Scientists and engineers at Cornell have come up with an Organic LED that convert electricity directly into light, and the process runs both ways, means the OLED turns electricity into light, and light into electricity as well. Therefore, depending on the needs of the user, it may play a role of energy collector as well as light producer. Due to their elastic features, Organic LEDs produce better light per watt, and mass production is possible even in a low cost.

No wonder if future cell phones will run on solar energy or your windows gathering energy from surroundings and producing light at night. May turn into a cost effective energy but lots of work and research is required to materialize this imagination.
