Nanoguitar: World's smallest guitar - Who will play it?
Ravi | Sep 20 2006

It may seem an achievement to the science investigation team from Cornell University but all efforts are in vain as far as the utility of the so-called worlds smallest guitar is concerned.

The crystalline silicon work, just to boast the glory of electromechanical technology, is 10 micrometers long with six strings each about 50 nanometers, or 100 atoms wide! Technical work is really remarkable.

The strings would resonate only at inaudible frequencies when played by an atomic microscope force. Oscillation will be over the entire 400-nanometer range at rates of 7 million cycles per second measured by using the interference of laser light beams.
