Mind-reading computers in the making
Vikas Shekhawat | Jun 26 2006

Until now, we believed that these machines have a freezing control over our physical and mental existence, but it is not true, seemingly, it was just the tip of the iceberg. The new ‘emotionally aware’ computers in the making will stun you to the core by reading your facial expressions.

The computer program developed by scientists in Britain and America read individual thoughts by analyzing facial expressions via a video camera. The mind reading computer applications would be used to give fillip to programs based on interactive technology, such as to capture people’s mood and display advertisements accordingly and better online teaching.

The technology will further percolate to other portable devices, including cell phones, PDAs and even cars, making machines respond to our moods. The technology will be showcased at a science exhibition organized by the Royal Society in London on Monday.
