MagLevAir recreates aircraft carrier's catapult with magnets
Bharat | Aug 11 2009

Designers Leonie Lawniczak, Deniz Örs and Georg Milde have devised some kind of a magnetic launch system which helps aircraft take off with much ease and less space. A futuristic concept with potential to revolutionize the future of aviation, the MagLevAir works pretty much like the present day aircraft carrier’s catapult. The magnetic shuttle speeds the aircraft to the desired momentum necessary for takeoff and then separates itself from the main craft that flies away. The momentum and the effort contribution make the aircraft lighter and let it fly carrying less fuel.
