Light on the water: Firefly
Chetan | Jul 20 2006

The name says it all, Eric Goldfarb has recently invented the most technically advanced bottle cover. This cover is compatible with almost all standard wide mouth bottles.

The 7 white LEDs on the back of the lid, powered by 3 AAA batteries give your ‘run of the mill‘ water bottle the glowing look or in other words, it turns your water bottle into a cool lantern. The intensity of the light can be adjusted at your whim/mood. Firefly water bottle lid is ideal for trekkers and hikers just not because of its dual use but also due to its sturdy material which makes it resistant to weathering in extreme conditions.

At $21.95, it is one heck of a costly bottle lid but it could be extremely helpful in those treacherous treks up in the mountains when the weight of the lantern and fuel could be more than a handful (or bagful?).

To top it up, it would encourage the re-use of otherwise disposable plastic bottles. I see Greenpeace drinking bubblies in the glowing bottle. Cheers!
