Siggraph conference will see the debut of ThinkPad W700 in Los Angeles. W700 is a 17-inch laptop that is said to be first ever desktop replacement under ThinkPad series. But that is not the only ‘first’ it brags about but it is also a first ever laptop to have a digitizer and a color calibrator. Digitizer on W700 is a 4.7 x 3.2 inch Wacom tablet. It is beautifully placed next to the touch pad. Above the digitizer one can see an X-rite Pantone color sensor; it can calibrate the color of display when the lid is closed.
ThinkPad W700 is a mobile workstation for graphic professionals and that’s one reason why it’s got digitizer, color sensor and 17-inch WUXGA display that can display 72% of all the colors visible to naked eye. Other than that W700 is loaded with components that will really make any graphic designer drool (I won’t mention geeks, they’ll drool anyways). It features Intel’s Core 2 Extreme Quad processor and Nvidia Quadro FX graphics card for ultimate graphic experience. If you are not satisfied with the mere 17-inch display, then you can attach bigger ones using VGA, DisplayPort and Dual Link DVI-D connectivity options. It includes 64 GB of SSD and up to 640 GB of HDD can be added to it.
Starting price of this monster of a laptop is around $3000 and can go upto as high as $5000. But then it’s not meant for normal user and I bet graphic professionals will love to have an all-in-one mobile workstation for the given price. It will be available from 2nd September.
