Artist, designer, and futurist Syd Mead has a real reputation for delivering designs that actually redefine that infamous phrase “shock and awe”. One of his most famous creations, the “Spinner” flying car from Blade Runner has become something of a cult figure and in recognition of the artist’s revolutionary vision, LEGO presented Mead with an official LEGO version of the iconic car at a design summit in Billund. The car itself represents a curios mix of automotive design, utopianism, and Hollywood, and to see one of it made in LEGO as almost as surreal as the futuristic Qatar Syd dreamed up a while back.
