KiteShip: Exploiting The Power Of Wind
Naveen | Sep 30 2006

What about an idea to propel a ship by wind? Sounds cool! Well, a company named KiteShip has been harnessing the power of wind for the last three decades to launch, direct and recover the sails aboard.

KiteShip develops Very Large Free Flying Sails (VLFFS), control systems, technology and techniques to control the freighters, pleasure and racing yachts, commercial vessel builds and aerospace applications.

KiteShip
, touting itself as a “group of forward-thinking sailors, designers and visionaries’, has built tethered wing powered speedsailing yachts and has plans to explore the surface of the Mars.

If we look at the recent fuel cost increases, the commercial shipping industry will certainly will look forward to sail power as a support to petroleum powered vessels. The innovative sails from KiteShip will surely be witnessed as the just right usage of the forceful and inexpensive power of wind in the coming time.
