Most of the cell phones require both your hands to operate. One would have thought that the introduction of touch-screen interfaces would make things easier. To an extent, this has been the case but there are still not very many devices that can only be operated using a single hand. KEYnetik’s motion interface is, however, one such system that has a potential to change the scenario. Using multiple accelerometers, which determine not only the direction from which movement is coming but also the direction of the origin of force, KEYnetik’s system takes motion detection to next level. Also it automatically differentiates between the intentional and the unintentional motions, providing for accurate responses.
The motion-based interface and controls located on sides, the device can be controlled using just one hand. And when I say one hand, it can mean either one i.e. the device is ambidextrous. Now this is not just a concept, KEYnetik’s motion interface has been installed quite successfully on Nokia’s N95. This implementation called “RockNScroll” is available for free by registering on KEYnetik forum.
Still think I’m exaggerating, watch this interface in action in the video after jump.
