Iomega unveils 16mm thin eGo Helium 320GB USB portable hard drive for MacBook Air
Alpheus | Sep 17 2008

Portable hard drives are quite in demand these days, especially since memory capacities have increased significantly. The Iomega eGo Helium Portable hard drive offers a sizable 320GB and most importantly, weighs just 7 ounces. Aimed at MacBook Air users, the profile of the hard drive has been perfectly matched to the slenderness of the former. It is just 16mm thin and gets an aluminum casing with a shiny texture. The 2.5-inch drive snuggles into this case. The USB 2.0 drive also includes a Drop Guard feature for impact resistance of up to 51-inches. The eGo is pre-formatted with the Apple HSF+ file system and operates without AC supply.

Pricing & Availability: The Iomega eGo hard drive will retail for $149.99 and is expected to hit the stands in October.

Watch This: We are big fans of portability, and since the eGo is a mega memory box, it features quite high on our desirability scale. The attractive price tag also adds to its brownie points.

Word around the Web:

James Sherwood from Reghardware says:

If you’ve splashed out on a MacBook Air and eaten up all the on-board storage already, then you need a storage solution that’s sleek, sophisticated and – above all else – silver. Iomega knows this, so it’s piggybacked the PC style cravings of Air owners and created the 320GB eGo Helium Portable Hard Drive.
