People will do whatever it takes for acclaim and uniqueness. And that’s what Mark Formanek does with his rather exceptional but immensely unworthy artwork the Standard Time. The 4 x 12m wooden digital clock installed at the central station Rotterdam, is a labor of some 70 odd workers, and in case you thought this was a mere installation, revert, this is made to update in real time for 24 hours, and it’s all done manually. Involving about 1,611 tedious changes within the 24 hour period, the clock has been shot on HD. The onlookers at the Standard Time besides the time also see men at work changing the time to keep standard. All said, well done Mark, but what’s the use, anyone? To see how it works, hit the jump.
