With little tinkering you can make your webcam see in the dark. In fact, the charge-coupled devices of almost all digital webcams are responsive to infrared light (IR) which is blocked with a filter.



Lee Vonk here rips off the filter from a Logitech QuickCam making it a night-vision webcam. You can apply the same procedure to morph your own without any hassles. Make sure not to damage the lens and the light sensitive capacitors of the CCD while removing the filter.
