How-To: Make a HD projector
Anupam | Oct 18 2006

If you have some spare money and some patience then you can utilize these two and make a HD projector for yourself.

All you will need is:

- Samsung 940MW-SV
- Pro Lens Kit (2x Fresnels and projection lens)
- Pro Reflector
- Ceramic Mogul Base
- 400Watt 6500K Metal Halide bulb
- 400Watt MH Electronic Ballast
- 25 foot HDMI to DVI cable
- 25 foot VGA cable

The main thing you will need is a LCD. A Samsung 940MW-SV Silver 19-inch 8ms widescreen LCD would be great.

To maximize the light aimed at the screen you have to add a reflector just behind the bulb.
Next you will need a 400 Watt Metal Halide Bulb, choose the one that puts out light that’s similar to daylight. A bulb with a color temperature of 6500 Kelvin is the best.

The next requirement is a ballast to ignite the bulb. Prefer the electronic type Ballast of 400 Watt rating.

And some other hardware. The projector built will cost you around $1,000.
