If you happen to be a geek who also happens to be a music lover (a rare blend) then you would do well not to miss Georgia Tech’s Guthman Musical Instrument Competition, to be held on 27th and 28th of February on Georgia Tech’s campus.
This weekend will witness some of the most innovative musical instruments forged of late, as they’ll be publicly displayed by Georgia Tech’s recently launched Center for Music Technology. Eliot Van Buskirk from Wired happens to be one of the two judges at this amazing competition. Though he has not divulged anything critical about the instruments, he has managed to get hold of a few pics of these futuristic instruments.
Judges will be listening to these instruments once the competition begins and then they’ll award prizes worth $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000 for podium finishes. Also, three runners-up will receive a free copy each of a Rock Band videogame (the second judge in the competition is Eran Egozy, co-founder of Harmonix, and one of the creators of Guitar Hero and Rock Band).
Hopefully we’ll soon be able to hear and see what this new breed of musical instruments look and sound like when played live. Till then check out these amazing pics of some more than amazing instruments.
