FluteTronic 8-Bit - Light sensor Flute for noise, maybe!
Bharat | Oct 27 2007

Ah! This is something that’ll ring a melody in the ears of our classical music maestros. I spot this thing on Boing Boing, - the instrument called the “FluteTronic” plays just like the traditional flute, however, this one uses light sensors to detect finger and mouth position – giving the armature that feel of a pro. Light passing through the finger holes determine the frequency of the sound, while the light passing through the mouthpiece controls the vibrato. A wooden box (finished in beeswax) containing speaker, circuit board, battery, on/off switch and the output audio jack, accompanies the flute churned out of a plastic tube. FluteTronic promises to create noise, but I fear it’ll be music.
