European Jaguar XK Saves Lives

Europeans can now take an evening stroll with ease. They can bid bye to cases of deaths resulting from vehicle impact and scorn at such cases occurring elsewhere.



The wonder works this way. European versions of the 2007 Jaguar XK are installed with a Pedestrian Deployable Bonnet System (PDBS) to lighten the impact of a collision with a pedestrian.



The mechanism is simple. Once a pedestrian is hit the system is set into motion and within 30 milliseconds two pyrotechnic actuators blow up 2.5 cylinder-shaped airbags on the hood which serves as a surface for the victim to safely land.
