DMP-BD10: Panasonic unveils Blu-ray disc player

Panasonic consumer Electronics Company today announced its first foray into the Blu-ray Disc player market with the introduction of DMP-BD10.

The DMP-BD10 incorporates a 296MHz, 14bit Video D/A Converter that provides high quality 4x over sampling for 1080i/720p output. It plays a variety of optical discs including DVDs and CDs and up-converts video playback from DVDs to 1080P, by using HDMI.

The introduction of the disc player is timed with the release of Panasonics first 1080p Plasma TV, which can make full use of blu-ray’s high definition entertainment capabilities.

Its noise shaping video processing shifts the noise component to an unused band to further boost the signal-to-noise ratio. DMP-BD10 can theoretically reproduce up to nearly 4400 billion colors.

Priced at $1300
Its seems expensive if we compare it with the price of Sony blu-ray of around $1000
