Taking you away from the world of paintbrush and canvas, researchers at Akishima Laboratories (Mitsui Zosen) are using 50 water wave generators to draw text and pictures on the surface of water with the help of waves.
The cylindrical backyard pool like device generates circling waves that act as pixels and combines several of them to produce the desired image. The liquid picture remains on the water surface for a while and then disappears. However, it can be reproduced again after every 3 seconds in succession, making the innovative art quite impressive.
The device does complex calculations based on ‘Bessel functions’ and is able to produce impeccable alphabets, lines, kanji characters and other symbols. You can soon feed on the innovative technology in future amusement devices.
