Chip that noise away
Akanksha | Feb 12 2008

First technology gave you the power to stay connected with the world amidst thick traffic. Now it gives you the power to drown the traffic noise off your cellphone. The first day of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, would witness the unveiling of a tiny chip that offers that extra bit of voice clarity that you always dreamed of. The chip has been designed by a California based company, Audience. It has the ability to sift the speaker’s voice from the unwanted background noise, enhancing audio quality. This would also help in reducing the bandwidth use, making it a lucrative proposition for the service providers as well.

Founded by Lloyd Watts, a neuroscientist, it is certain that the company would have kept human technology in mind. With most of the handset manufacturers making a beeline to include this technology in their products, looks like Audience would definitely have a large ‘audience’.
