
At the Consumer Electronics Show 2007 in Las Vegas, Microsoft is flaunting its new array of products especially the MediaSmart Server from HP that will use Microsoft’s Windows Home Server software.
HP MediaSmart Server for Microsoft’s Windows Home Server
Microsoft at the CES show in Las Vegas introduced the HP MediaSmart Server that is said to run the Microsoft’s officially announced Windows Home Server. The HP MediaSmart Server that will run the new above mentioned software is expected to ship sometime in the second half of 2007. The new operating system will offer automagic backup functionality, remote access, and central file storage and management. Now, the users will get rid of the problem of dealing with managing media across multiple PCs and devices with the new OS.
HP TouchSmart PC
Most of the products announced by Microsoft at the CES won’t be able to make a move into the market until January 30 that is said to be the Windows Vista street date. One of the new products introduced at the show was HP TouchSmart PC that runs on 1.6GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core processor. Powered by AMD Live, the device features 2GB SDRAM, 320GB Serial ATA hard drive, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600, WiFi, Bluetooth, 1.3 megapixel camera, integrated FM and ATSC HDTV tuners, large 19-inch wide adjustable touch-screen display, and SuperMulti DVD burner with LightScribe. The HP TouchSmart PC will be available on Jan 30.
“Ultimate Extras” for Vista Ultimate
Bill gates, at his keynote at the CES event, offered two new features as a part of ‘Ultimate Extras’ to urge buyers to opt for Ultimate Vista. The two new features are dubbed DreamScene that allows the users to playback a video file on the desktop and the Windows Media Center SportsLounge that will offer an IPTV feed of sports (live TV and real-time scores) related media to Vista Ultimate desktops owing to a joint venture with Fox Sports. But, do these two new features are catchy enough to tempt buyers to spend extra bucks rather than opting for other Vista packages including Windows Vista Business and Windows Vista Home Premium.
