Cinemizer simulates the grand theatrical experience in your living room

Simulation has undoubtedly brought the real and virtual worlds closer. As part of the ongoing research in this area, Carl Zeiss has unveiled Cinemizer – a pair of “portable home cinema goggles.” Users of high-end entertainment phones like the N96 (and N95, too!), iPhone and higher models of the iPod can plug in their gadgets, wear the Cinemizer and watch 39-inch display simulated movies at a 2m viewing distance. The eyewear comes with frame-mounted earphones, adjustable nose pad and frame to suit the user’s head, on-board battery for 4 hours of power supply, just in case you don’t feel like over stressing your gadget, and quite surprisingly, glass adjustments for myopic and hyper-metropic users for up to 3.5D.

Pricing and Availability: The Cinemizer is yet to reach retail stores. Pricing details are still a mystery to us.

Watch This: We love simulator goggles. And since it is from the Carl Zeiss stable, there’s always brand desirability. Apparently, these goggles come with a holder for the gadget too. Quite comprehensive, we say.

Word around the Web:

Jeremy Horwitz from iLounge says:

The single biggest advantage of Cinemizer relative to some of its competitors is found inside the housing: large diopter dials that permit the left and right lenses inside to be individually focused for users with less than perfect vision.

The geek from Techradar says:

Borg fears aside, we like these. They will appeal to people who like watching video alone, and they offer great build quality. UK pricing and distribution will be announced soon.
