Boston Dynamics, famous for its robotic pack mule BigDog has finally found its companion in the Petman, a two-legged robot that not only looks like a human but also simulates a real person’s moving motion. We’d read before that something as the Petman was in the making, and today here we are seeing the Petman real, after 13 months of designing phase and a 17 month building time. With the abilities to move exactly like us, heal first and then toe, at speeds of 3.2mph, the US army is currently using the bot to test chemical warfare clothing. Here, to provide a realistic test condition, Petman’s done well to self balance, walk, crawl and perform various other movements, and when inside the clothing, to control temperature, humidity and perspiration when required. Video worth the look after the jump.
