Bloodhound SSC supersonic car with 1,000 mph aspiration disclosed

The British are reputed engineers and speed obsessive. If history isn’t your thing, you could still mark their passion for speed with the famous Lewis Hamilton. But if it is, the British team that set the fastest land speed record in 1997 will attempt to better their record with good 200mph this time. Computer-generated imagery of the Bloodhound SSC, a car that RAF pilot Andy Green envisions to ply beyond the 1,000 mph limit, has been made public. The £10million project isn’t much for a land vehicle that promises to go beyond 1,000 mph. Andy Green will move at 1.4 times the speed of sound – when the car is up and ready and he is geared to hit 1050mph.

What’s Innovative:

The only purpose of the designed car, which shall accelerate from 0-1,050 mph in about 40 seconds, is to break the world’s land speed record. The car will be powered by a rocket attached Typhoon-Eurofighter jet engine while carbon fiber and titanium will be used for the bodywork, which shall bear the entire speed pressure. Halting the car after the fastest endeavor could be a task, so the makers will use airbrakes and two parachutes to slow down. The car is expected to hit out of production in a year’s time, and take another three for the record attempt, but we know the wait won’t go to waste. Hit more to catch the video.

Watch This:

We live in a world where every day a new reason to do that extra in the engineering world is sought after. And when such designs greet our eyes, there is nothing much we can do than sit back and appreciate. You have your opportunity to laud it as well - a scale model of the car will be put on display at London’s Science Museum today.
