The Army’s latest version of the Black Hawk helicopter, the UH-60M, has now been equipped with digital avionics suite that makes use of embedded GPS/INS or say Global Positioning System cum inertial navigation system. Black hawk has long served the US army by not only being a medium-lift utility, but also assault helicopter since it was derived from twin-turboshaft engine, single rotor Sikorsky S-70. The brigade, part of the 101st Airborne Division, is expected to receive 30 of the latest hi-tech Black Hawks by May 2008.
