Haishang Deng's Bionic Chameleon Truck
Sayudh | Feb 8 2008

The ‘Bionic Chameleon Truck’ resembles a centipede, both in form and action. Designed by Haishang Deng, the body of the truck is made of resilient soft tarpaulin. This makes the body strong enough to handle the cargo in it, as well as considerably lessen the impact of accidents that might occur. The imaginatively segmented body allows the truck to adjust the huge size according to the load. The drive cockpit of the Chameleon Truck cranes over its cargo, unlike most other modern vehicles (that have the drive cockpit built into the frame). Due to this innovative piece of designing, no additional help is required during the automated front loading of the truck. This VDA Design Award Winner bionic cargo transport derives its fuel-efficiency from its relatively less weight.

This is a nice fresh concept for a truck. Quite extraordinary than those we have been used to. Though it’s still a truck that needs cargo liners, I do not see meeting one of these in the roads in the future.
