Autonomous Information communication, next level in robots
Madan | Oct 30 2007

If ever in Japan, you may find some robots leaning or bending in Japanese style to give you a mechanically warm welcome in next coming years. National Institute of Information and Communication Technology at Japan is working to develop a prototype of this next level of robot that can understand the gestures, hand signals and body language from outer source and may repeat them in a response without any prior programming.

Based on the same concept, The Institute’s Spoken Language Division is giving a real time edge to create a 155 cm and 85 kg robot, which can establish a stress-free unambiguous information communication system that learns through gestures.

Nothing surprising as human is set to develop more and more autonomous control in robotic world. I think Japanese should avoid some action in front of robots such as smoking, bathing, and specially kissing and hugging their wife.
