There has been so much written and spoken about ear drum damage due to earplugs that the health hazards are now being ignored altogether. Moreover, the lack of an alternate technology so far has forced earphone users to make do with these ‘harmful’ products. Gamechanger Products, though, has a new agenda. The company’s Audio Bone 1.0 headphones literally alter the sound transmission medium, thus nullifying the negative effects of regular earphones. Instead of the ear drums, the sound is received by the user through his ear bones by virtue of a natural mechanism called bone conduction. The result – the ear drums are subject to less sound impact and audibility is also enhanced as the sound reaches the inner ear directly.
Pricing and Availability: Audio Bone 1.0 headphones are priced at a reasonable $189 and come in a variety of colors, including black, blue, orange and white.
Watch This: When geeks like us get to hear about health hazards due to gadgets, it is disheartening sometimes. So we are delighted that an alternate technology to earplugs is here. We can bid farewell to ear aches (and deafness, too?) finally. And with its ergonomic design, the ‘pinch’ will no longer exist.
Word around the Web:
Peter Ha from Crunchgear says:
These bone conducting ‘phones are said to be more comfortable and a healthier alternative than traditional earbuds or in-ears.
Brenda Stokes from Slashgear says:
If you’re in the market for a new pair of headphones to listen to all of your tunes, might I suggest the Audio Bone 1.0 Headphones? They’re safer on your eardrums and provide top-quality audio you’re sure to enjoy.
Mariella Moon from Mrgadget says:
Sure it’s not really that much of a looker, but if it really does deliver great sound quality as promised, then it stands a chance in the market.

In this day and age...am sure anyone would love to have those headphones to flaunt a new and healthy gadget...and YES normal headphones do tend to affect our health (for people who do not believe this) and there are quite a few studies going on in that front.
You’re right Christi. ’Healthy gadgets’ is the way to go. The last thing we want is technology ending up as a curse.
