ASUS had earlier ushered in a new era by unveiling Eee PCs, which were notably inexpensive for ultra-compact notebooks. It’s needless to say that while maintaining the affordability quotient, ASUS does not sacrifice on functionality and delivers premium notebooks. Continuing with the same guiding principle, it has churned out the N10J, which stands a little bigger than mini-PCs. Digging below the glossy contour of the machine, one will find Intel’s low power 1.6GHz Atom microprocessor and NVIDIA’s GeForce 9300M GS graphics card to deliver great processing capabilities. The company intends on making it a perfect accomplice for internet and business users. The graphic card can be put off use thereby pulling up the battery life of the machine to 7 hours, which otherwise stands humbly at 4 hours.
Another feature that stands out of the rest is the start-up time of 8 seconds using the Express Gate function, although its usability is restricted to operations of a web browser and Skype. The main memory stands at 2GB along with the built-in HDD drive offering 160GB. The distinguishing factor is the 10.2-inch display in contrast to the 8-inch displays of mini-PCs, thereby intending to create a market for an altogether different segment of mid-size PCs. As a common prejudice for compact PCs connotes weight issues, ASUS has done a commendable job by keeping the weight of N10J to 1.5kg with the battery pack.
Pricing and Availability:
The N10J mid-size PC is expected to hit the retail shelves for close to $938.
