Asus intros ECleaner, robotic vacuum cleaner masses can afford
Bharat | Dec 22 2009

From Eee PCs to robotics, the journey is too long, but Asus is pretty focused on cementing its stride amid robots. Only a couple of days back we heard of an Android-based EeeBot from the Taiwanese manufacturer, and today it has introduced what is a Roomba-style automated vacuum cleaner. The ECleaner robotic vacuum cleaner has a novel 6000-hour UV light embedded to disinfect the floor and emit fragrances.

Being identical to the iRobot’s Roomba in form and functionality, the ECleaner differs, as it unlike the former, it follows pre-programmed patterns for cleaning based on a randomized algorithm. Asus has stuffed the ECleaner with a photo sensor to detect stairs and obstacles to avoid falls. Priced comparatively cheaper at around $150, the ECleaner returns to the charging dock autonomously and has a remote control fitted on top - indeed a great Roomba-like vacuum cleaner for the masses. Hit the jump to see the ECleaner on the job.
